The financial calculator runs in your browser. Entered amounts, imported file contents, and filenames are not sent to CampusCosts or to a third-party service.

What stays local

Your aid offers and scenarios remain in memory unless you choose “Save on this device.” That option writes to this browser’s IndexedDB storage. Nothing is saved automatically. “Delete all saved local data” removes CampusCosts’s saved comparison. Closing or clearing the worksheet does not delete any files you previously exported.

Other people using the same browser profile may be able to open a saved comparison. Browser settings, private browsing, or clearing site data can remove local storage. A JSON export is the way to keep a portable copy and reopen it later.

What a public page request reveals

Your browser requests public pages, fonts, scripts, and published dataset files. A hosting provider may log those request addresses and standard connection information. Visiting a particular college page can reveal which college you viewed. Your financial inputs and imported filenames are never put in page URLs, social previews, or request parameters.

No tracking integrations

The product includes no third-party analytics, advertising pixels, session replay, externally loaded fonts, or runtime AI services. Official-source links take you to other websites; their privacy practices apply there.

Files and exports

CSV and JSON files are parsed locally. A 5 MB file limit protects browser responsiveness; it is not a paid-tier restriction. Uploaded award-letter PDFs, OCR, email imports, and identity documents are not supported. Do not enter a Social Security number, FAFSA password, bank details, or identity-document information.

Exports and printed reports contain the private information you entered. Choose their destination carefully. Spreadsheet text is escaped to reduce formula injection risk, and imported labels are rendered as text.

Privacy without JavaScript

Public college records and explanations are static HTML. Interactive entry requires JavaScript so that calculations can run on your own device.
